Jamison Matthews has lusted after Ryder Montgomery since she was a preteen. But now that Ryder and her brother's band, Shaken Dirty, has made it huge, she's just one of many pining for the brooding lead singer. Too bad Ryder still sees her as a little sister. Not that it matters. Her brother would never allow it, and the last thing Jamison wants is to be another notch on a rock star's bed post. Even if it's Ryder's.
Ryder doesn't deserve happiness. After his fame destroyed his last girlfriend, he swore he'd never fall in love again. So when Jamison, the girl he's been in danger of loving for years, joins the band on the road, he'll do anything to deny the sparks between them--even after one hot night together. But Jamison is determined to show Ryder that he's worthy of love--her love--and that she's all grown up and ready to play.
I love stories about rockstars and this story did not disappoint. I was beyond excited when I discovered this book because Ryder and Jamison's story attracted me. Ryder has demons that he is trying to forget; a traumatic past has caused him to live turbulent life. He has always known Jamison, he was always there to help her when she needed him. Jamison loves him, has always loved him, but knows that her relationship with Ryder can never occur.
"And then he kissed her and it was sweeter, hotter, and more profound than anything that had come before it."
His demons and her perseverance are the two things that captivated me. I love reading about a girl that does not give up on her man, although he may have the most twisted ways. Ryder does not want to let Jamison in and she fights him, and, of course, he falls.
"I told you to stop, told you to back off. I told you I didn't want to talk about it. But you keep pushing and pushing."
Ryder was a very interesting guy to read about. His past demons haunt him and the way he acts is understandable but it takes him a while to realize that he loves Jamison.
"He slammed back a third shot...If he was actually going to have to get out on a dance floor with Jamison and all those gorgeous curves of hers--or worse, stand there while she snuggled up to the rest of the guys--he was going to be dead drunk when he did it."
The story has a nice pace and it keeps the reader hooked. HOWEVER, I was more interested in the other characters at some point of the book. The other Shaken Dirty band members are so unique that they ultimately stole my attention. I recommend this novel. If you don't have anything else to read and want to read a STEAMY, INTERESTING story, then READ THIS!!
