I'm going to be completely honest when reviewing this novel. I'm going to start by saying this was not my favorite novel, BUT I can see how many people feel in love with it. This story had a lot of substance. It was a touching book about forbidden love and I enjoyed reading it. I got to say that the writing was great which was a total plus in this story.
This book is about Isaac and Destiny's love story and the religious intolerance surrounding their relationship. Isaac is a Baptist and Destiny is a Mormon. Destiny has a crush on Isaac, but Isaac doesn't really know they exist until they are thrown together in the school's production of Les Miserables.
Religion weaved its way into the story which I didn't like. I don't like reading "touchy" subjects and religion happens to be one. However, the story between Isaac and Destiny was great. This book is a teenage love story overall so I think a lot of people are going to enjoy the plot because of the powerful message it carries.
I loved this sequel! Synchrony was a bit darker than Destiny, something that I totally enjoyed. It had way more drama! YAY!
Destiny and Isaac don't have the ideal relationship in many people's eyes BUT I loved them together. They do problems, a lot of them, in this book especially with Preston, Isaac's rival and Destiny's friend. However, Preston was such a great character which made the book so much more interesting.
Destiny became such a strong character in this novel which is something I admired. She completely surpassed some expectations I had of her.
Ugh, such a good sequel. This book had a little bit of everything. I think I liked Destiny more after I read Synchrony. The sequel added more depth to first novel. I think this book will be one that I will reread over and over again!
