Rival (+Review)

REVIEW

I'm so fucking in love with this novel. When I finished, I didn't want to put it down. I just want to continue rereading it and live with the characters forever! I'm really sad it ended and have to wait until next year to read the next Penelope Douglas novel. I'm counting down the months until I'm able to get my hands on Falling Away because I have a feeling its going another awesome novel.

I first discovered Penelope Douglas when my friend was raving about Jared in one of our crazy book-boyfriend discussions we used to have. When I read Bully, I fell in love. Furthermore, I was surprised that I was not only in love with the actual plot and the fact that Jared was a hottie, but also in Penelope's style of writing. She captured my attention from page one and did not release me until I was at the dreaded end (dreaded because I didn't want it to end!). Since then, I have become a fan who has not been disappointed with her work and don't think will ever be. Yeah, she's that good!

"Seeing her walk into the kitchen in her pj's. looking like she'd been blissfully fucked all night long, made me hot."

Fallon's life has not been "easy" or "normal" ever. Her father is part of the Irish mafia and her mother is a gold-digging bitch. When her mom marries Mr. Caruthers she moves in with stepfather and stepbrother, Madoc, who she dislikes at first but ends up falling for him.

Fallon is very tomboyish, which I could relate to. Her clothes, her hobbies, her appearances, all of it created a very tough-looking girl. She goes through hell and back, but stays strong. I loved her character. Her badass personality created a hard exterior, but once Madoc was able to crack it, you were able to see the vulnerability she carried. And only he could bring it out.

"Madoc, no,"  I commanded pathetically folding my arms over my chest. "I'm  sore from last night."
He pinched his eyebrows together and arched a lip. "Sore? From me? That. Is. Awesome."

When Fallon left, Madoc changed. His world crumbled because she left without an explanation and he transformed into a girl-loving, party animal he became. When she returns all he wants to feel is hatred, but he can't. I've loved Madoc since Bully and this book did not change this fact. Madoc is a lovable character. Seriously, I don't know why anyone would not like him!

Although Madoc and Fallon believe their connection is only physical, it is NOT! From the first interaction you could feel how deep their connection was. The chemistry burned the pages. There was tension throughout the novel, but I liked this fact. I was in an anticipatory mode throughout the novel, which only made me increased my reading speed.

Jared and Tate (from Bully & Until You) play important roles in this novel! Their story continues! YAY. Jax, Jared's brother, is also another major character. I love Jared and Madoc, but I have a feeling that Jax is going to end up stealing my heart in Falling Away.

I loved every surprise, every line, every WORD of this novel. The characters take an incredible, heart-wrenching journey. Have I mentioned how much I love this book? If you haven't read it, it's time you pick it up.
